Marah Maycock
Gannon’s Lynne Hibbard and Edinboro’s Marah Maycock were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District II women’s volleyball first team Thursday.
Both will move to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their performances athletically and in the classroom.
Hibbard was named to the Academic All-District first team for the second consecutive season with a 3.93 grade-point average as a physical therapy major. The senior middle blocker from West Barnstable, Mass., has been named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete and received the NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award every year during her college career. She was named to the All-PSAC Western Division first team as a junior.
Hibbard is averaging 1.52 kills through 92 sets and is hitting .184 while producing 0.88 blocks and 0.30 digs per set. She ranks 11th among PSAC players in blocks per set. She ranks eighth all-time at Gannon with 250 career block assists.
Maycock, a speech and hearing major with a 3.93 GPA, made the team for the first time. The senior libero leads the Fighting Scots with 474 digs, good for 14th in school history for a season. She also ranks second in service aces with 37. Maycock has helped Edinboro record its best start in program history at 28-2 overall.
Maycock, a native of Kennedy, N.Y., ranks among the Scots’ career leaders in games played (483, third), digs (1,513, fifth) and service aces (142, seventh).
