Kristin Markiewicz
University at Buffalo senior defender/midfielder Kristin Markiewicz, a Harbor Creek graduate, was named to the Mid-American Conference women’s soccer all-tournament team after last weekend’s MAC tournament.
Markiewicz, a team captain, helped the Bulls’ backline play a key role in a quarterfinal victory over Central Michigan and advance to their second straight MAC semifinal for the first time in program history.
Markiewicz was strong throughout the tournament for UB, which allowed just 13 shots in two games in the tournament. She was named player of the match by the UB coaching staff after the Bulls’ 1-0 semifinal loss to Western Michigan.
The senior captain was awarded all-tournament team honors for the first time in her UB career. Earlier this season, Markiewicz earned a MAC defensive player of the week honor. She finished her career with three goals, four assists and 10 points.
The Bulls finished the season with a 11-7-3 overall record (7-3-1 in the MAC mark) and their second straight MAC East title.
