Case Western Reserve senior midfielder Chris Cvecko, a McDowell graduate, added to his list of postseason honors by being named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America Division III soccer third team.
Cvecko is the 87th athlete from Case Western to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition.
Earlier this season, Cvecko was named the University Athletic Association Most Valuable Player and also earned All-UAA first-team honors for the third time. He is only the third Spartans men’s soccer player in program history to have received the honor three times.
Cvecko finished the season with a career-high 22 points and 10 goals. The two-year captain ended his career ranked sixth in school history with 26 goals, 15 assists and 67 points. During his career, he also was named to the All-Great Lakes Region Third Team.
Cvecko, who became eligible for the Academic All-America Team after earning an Academic All-District selection in October, carries a 3.40 cumulative grade-point average as an engineering major at Case Western. He has received UAA All-Academic honors three times over his career, and he has been a selection to the OCSA Academic All-Ohio first team.
Cvecko and the Spartans finished the season with a 13-4-1 record, and placed second in the UAA with a 4-3 mark.
